WOW WOW WOW.
My Tik Tok followers voted this as my next read and it did not disappoint. I love Kingfisher and Saeris.
We have a bit of a grumpy/sunshine plot, although I wouldn’t call Saeris “sunshine.” Saeris is bold, feisty, and confident. She relies on herself above all others. Saeris ends up in some trouble with the queens guard and is taken away to the palace. She is almost beaten to death but BOOM magical portal opens and hot man walks through.
Upon waking in a new world, literally, Saeris meets Everlayne and a budding friendship forms. Kingfisher is a broody, controlling, and manipulative Fae who makes Saeris CRAZY. The sexual tension brews, but Saeris just wants to make sure her brother is safe in her world. Nothing matters except that. If her brother is safe then she is okay, and has done what she needed to do. Everything she does is to protect her brother and keep him from the harm that tends to find him.
Carrion Swift, a charming human that Saeris previously hooks up with, is brought to this new world by Kingfisher. Kingfisher was supposed to retrieve Saeris’s brother. However, he was tricky with his wording. He has fulfilled the oath to Saeris.
Kingfisher takes Saeris and Carrion to his home. The home is closer to a war. This war has been raging in this world for centuries. Kingfisher believes Saeris can help end the war. She was able to open this world portal. And guess what it’s made up of? QUICKSILVER. Wild I know.
Saeris struggles to figure out how to work with the quicksilver, but her chemistry with Fisher??? No struggle there. They FINALLY hook up along the way and they are guess…. MATES!! God I love a mate bond in a book. I love the talking to each other through minds. I love love love it. The ending blows up catastrophically which is amazing and I cannot wait for the next book!
