I absolutely loved this book!
Lee brought fantasy to New Orleans and it felt like a perfect mix of everyday and magic. New Orleans has always held such a rich history in the paranormal and I thought Lee did a great job of bringing Fae to that history. Cate is our FMC and man do I love her. She is stubborn, stunning, sassy, and honestly handles herself better than I could in many of the situations she finds herself in. Lachlan Gage is the FMC and he is dark, stormy, and altogether dangerous. What more could we want?!
In the beginning Cate gets locked into an agreement with Lach because she thinks she is protecting her brother. I like that this was more about her brother and others not being able to talk about the Fae due to magic, and didn’t make Cate look like a stupid damsel in distress. There is nothing I hate more than an FMC that is portrayed as strong and smart and then for her to do stupid things… Anyway Cate learns that Lach is a Fae and that he has magic. She wraps her head around that and then of course notices how ridiculously hot he is. I mean come on… dark and dangerous remember?!
After meeting some more Fae and trying to help Lach be less of an emotionless bastard she starts to gain his families trust as well has Lachs. The ending of the book had a major twist and ends on a MAJOR CLIFFHANGER. I cannot wait for book 2! I will have to reread this one before it comes out!
