This book is filled with so much information. I reread this book recently and finally feel like I understood more of it. I have to admit I felt more compelled to love toward the Heirs on a second read. Darius, Seth, Max, and Caleb all have their moments throughout this series, but I really loved Caleb from the beginning. Caleb may be a dck but he knows it and owns it. Darius is all messed up in his own head. Max is just a dck. Then there is Seth. I so hated Seth throughout this book. We don’t get to know Max very well so I just don’t connect with him at all.
Darcy and Tory face many trials in this book. If I were taken to a mirror world with magic one day, I think I would feel overwhelmed. With everyone against me, I would probably spend most days curled up in a ball crying. That being said I am trying to engage in more Tory Vega behavior going forward. Throughout this book even when Tory was feeling low she put on a brave face and glared down her demons. I love that Darcy is so optimistic, but also it can get kinda tiring throughout this book. Darcy expects the best in people, Tory expects the truth (Yes that is a Blair Waldorf Quote if you were wondering!)
Anyway, I obviously love these books since I am rereading them. I will recommend it to you and to anyone else who I can reach! The different POVs keep the story moving and there are so many pieces that create this magical world. PLEASE READ THESE BOOKS!!!
Book 2 is one of my favorites! So much petty drama and I absolutely LIVE for it. Tory and Darcy start to embrace their Fae side and start taking revenge against the Heirs for what they did in book 1. The Heirs and Twins also start to soften a bit toward each other which confuses all of them. How could they care about each other? Not like they are in the same position at all? lol. This book made me laugh out loud multiple times and if you enjoy petty revenge I think it will make you giggle too! Absolutely a 4 star read, and upon reread I’m thinking about updating to 5 stars!!
This book is building toward a great crescendo. We have The Reckoning, relationships between the Vega twins and the Heirs, Order emergence, and the mysterious lunar eclipse. This book builds so much anticipation and so many complicated relationships between characters. I was ensnared to every word. Finished this book in two sittings!! So so good! I can’t wait to learn more about the fall out of this bomb of an ending!
I swear these books just get better and better! Peckham and Valenti have created such an exciting world and added so many colorful layers. We have different realms (mortal, Fae (solaria), and shadow). There are Elemental magic types (earth, water, fire, air). We also have Order forms (MANY) and Zodiac signs. Additionally, there is Cardinal magic, shadow or dark magic, and many relationship dynamics. You may think it’s hard to keep it all straight. However, the writing is so beautifully done that I can tell you anything and everything!
Tory and Darcy continue to face struggles with the Heirs and Daddy Acrux. They are learning the difference between Fae rivalries and actual feelings. They develop closer relationships to the Heirs. Darcy and Orion are still adorable, but they continue to face challenge after challenge.
This book ends on yet another big bomb drop so be ready. You are going to want to have book 5 on hand when you finish!
These books held up so good on a reread! I read all of these books last year and was overwhelmed by the amount of information in them. Rereading them now I am so excited that I am picking up more and more from each of the characters.
This book reminded me of my love for Max. Before this book, I really did not connect with his character. In this one, he more than makes up for his past actions. My favorite part about this book is the characters finally coming together. I feel this should have happened from the beginning. The Heirs are working with the Twins. They support their claim with actions. But, they aren’t there yet with words… silly boys.
My heart absolutely broke for Tory and Darius throughout this book. I really felt like Tory and Darcy had a personality swap during this book. Darcy becomes the unfeeling and stoic leader. Tory flounders with all of the trauma she has to face. This book tested Darcy in so many ways. I discovered that she will rise to the challenge in a way I did not think she would.
Peckham and Valenti just keep adding layers to this story. Instead of feeling overwhelmed like on my earlier read, I am just drawn deeper and deeper into this world! I LOVE IT.
Peckham and Valenti have just torn my heart out and shredded it to pieces that will never reform. I cried for the last hour of reading this book and that’s on a reread! I kept telling my husband I didn’t understand why I was crying when I already knew what happened, BUT IT SUCKS SO MUCH.
So while I may have been kicking, screaming, crying, in my opinion that makes this an absolute 5 star read hands down. Any book that makes me feel this viscerally deserves all the praise I can offer it even if I “hate it.”
This book gave me so many goosebumps! I love the character development for Tory and Darcy. This is the first book where we get to see who they are separate from each other. Tory faces the world without Darius, Darcy faces Lavinia’s shadow curse, and the heirs hold down R.U.M.P. castle on their floating island. This book is LONG, but I found I didn’t mind that one bit.
The big happenings:
Tory cursed the stars and enlists Caleb’s help in keeping that promise.
Lavinia has another shadow/dragon heir for Lionel. (Tharaxis which means “prince” in the old language)
Darcy and Orion are stuck in the Palace of Souls.
Caleb and Seth finally hook up!!! But then are told off by their mothers who happen to walk in.
Milton Hubert and his gang of A.S.S. members fight back at Zodiac Academy.
Geraldine and Max solidify their relationship.
Tory literally walks through death and brings Darius back from the Veil.
Stella breaks her son’s curse.
Orion and Darcy face the shadow beast and Tharaxis. We find out it is very hard to kill Tharaxis. (Maybe impossible?)
Darcy frees the shadow beast of Lavinia’s control. The shadow beast joins the Vega’s side.
Darcy and Orion free Gabriel and Darcy binds the shadows within Lavinia’s body.
EVERYONE (Tory, Darius, Darcy, Lance, Gabriel, the Heirs, Xavier and his loves) meets at Zodiac Academy. They unite to fight off shadow monsters sent by Lionel.
Everyone kneels to Tory and Darcy
Tory and Darcy are finally given the missing piece to lift their curse.
Tory and Darcy keep the broken promise.
The end of this book leaves you guessing. I promise it is so worth it. This was a reread for me and I am so glad I did it. There are so many layers to everything in this book. Honestly, I feel I missed a bunch on my first read. It is a long book, but I would read it again already! So exciting, so engaging, and so worth the time it takes.
I absolutely love this book. It was so nice to see what Darius was doing. Many of the Vega’s loved ones also helped them in life. We got to meet Hail and Marissa and Radcliff. Lionel had sent so many of the souls to the Eternal Palace. These people were all looking eagerly to thwart Lionel and his plans. The next time I reread this series, I want to read this book along with Sorrow and Starlight. In Sorrow and Starlight we got to see the influence that the souls were influencing. This book showed us how much effort and love was put into those influences.
Peckham and Valenti created an afterlife in this world that is something I am wholly interested in. The idea that you can watch on and visit the living when they are grieving you. It was heartbreaking for the souls of the dead to see their loved ones grieve. I think it added so much to this story and it made more sense for Darius’s return. This book was so insightful and I 100% recommend reading this alongside Sorrow and Starlight.
This is the climax we have been building toward from book 1. A final show down. Who will come out on top?
Restless Stars is the finale we have been waiting for. Each character in these books gets their say in the final epic battle against Lionel Acrux. In each book, it felt like the odds against Tory and Darcy Vega were mounting. No matter who or what they turned to, they were always outnumbered. Now they finally have all of the pieces they can muster and they make their final stand.
Who fights for Team Vega? The Heirs and Counselors; houses of Capella, Altair, and Riegel. The Fae they have freed from the Nebula Inquisition Centers. The star that seeks to keep the balance. The Oscura pack and Dante the storm dragon. Geraldine and her Starfall Legion. Staff from Zodiac Academy. The Nymphs who no longer have to fear the taint of Lavinias Shadows. The Guild Stones. 4 Sayer Dragons with unknown power. Darius’ new brother Tharix. Finally, an army of the dead that is 5,000 strong.
Who fights for Team Lame Lionel? Lionels bonded dragon guardians. Lavinia (but her shadows have been cleansed). Vard and his creepy monster creations. Clyde, the star that cursed the Vega line. An army more than double that of the Vegas. Large war machines and magic artillery.
The ending of this saga was so worth all of the reading. I felt overwhelmed going into this book. Each previous book led to more and more enemies mounting. It felt like we were never going to get to a satisfying victory. HOWEVER, this book was great and the battle left me on the edge of my seat. The last 20% of the book is terrifying and exciting in all of the best ways.
