The Veiled Realm #2
By Analeigh Ford
Okay so book 1 ended with Delphine being spirited away to another Fae realm called Elysia. Now Delph is in the Starlight Court, after this random shadow man, Seren, spirits her away claiming he will take her home. OOPS how did that happen? Well Delphine is a decedent of the Starlight Court so Seren wanted to bring her to her ancestral home. Delph is pissed, but seems to get over that pretty quickly. Seren is hot and powerful and she is surrounded by magic in this new court. She has also been promised by Seren that she will learn to use her magic because we found out when she didn’t die in the first book she was at least half fae.
Seren and Delph have immediate chemistry and naturally Seren’s sister HATES that. Delph starts to learn about the Starlight Court and tries to find out which bloodline she is from. This is determined by the magic that speaks most easily to her, and she is hoping that she isn’t from Seren’s bloodline because she wants to tangle up with him ASAP. Eventually Caldamir, Tethys, Armene, and Nyx show up and everything gets crazy with the magic in Elysia and now the spotlight is on Delph’s brother Sol as a potential sacrifice to save the princes realm of Avarath.
Overall this book was good. I liked all of the world building and felt that we were learning a lot about this new world. Delph starts to get some more personality and I felt like I could start to understand the MCs a bit more. Nyx is hilarious even if he is supposed to be the bad guy here, Caldamir is just a grumpy git, Tethys is 100% my favorite character right now, and Armene… I just don’t get the guy. Seren seems like a good guy for Delph right now and I hope that doesn’t change. It isn’t giving RH vibes yet which is a little sad for me, but maybe that will pick up. It still feels like we are getting a lot of set up and not a lot of story.
